Summary
Ghost Detector: Real EMF Meter is a novelty entertainment app published by Binary Hands. It has no account and no login, and it asks you for no permissions: no microphone, no camera, no location. What we do not collect
- No microphone, no camera, no location. The app requests no runtime
permissions at all. Its Android manifest declares two permissions,
android.permission.INTERNETandcom.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID, both for ads and analytics. Google's ads library addsandroid.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATEand its own advertising-services permissions when the app is built. None of these are permissions Android asks you to approve. - Sensor readings stay on the device. The magnetometer and motion readings that drive the Field dial and the radar are processed on your phone and are never transmitted.
- Journal entries stay on the device. Saved encounters are stored in the app's own storage on your phone. We never upload them, and uninstalling the app removes them. Android's own backup feature, if you have it switched on, can include app data in the backup Google keeps for your device; that is an Android setting you control, not something we send. If you tap Share, you choose where that one card goes, and it goes there through the app you pick.
- No account, no login, no contact details. We never ask for your name, email, or phone number, and there is nothing to sign up for.
We do not sell your data.
Ads, and the consent question in the EEA and UK
The free app is paid for by ads from Google AdMob: a banner, and an interstitial at a few points. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Google's consent form (the User Messaging Platform) appears before ads are personalised and asks you what you allow. Your answer is respected, and it is sent to Google, not to us. Buying "Remove ads" stops the ads entirely.
Purchases
There is one in-app purchase: Remove ads, a one-time $2.99 unlock. It is processed by Google Play Billing. We never see your payment details. "Restore" re-checks your Google Play account so the unlock works on your other devices.
Children
Ghost Detector is not directed to children. It is a novelty entertainment app made for a teen and adult audience, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and you want the associated data removed, email us at the address below.
Your choices
- Your advertising ID. On Android, open Settings, then Privacy, then Ads, where you can reset the advertising ID or delete it so apps can no longer use it. The exact path differs by phone and Android version.
- Your consent answer (EEA and UK). Where Google's consent form applies, the app's Settings screen carries an Ad privacy options button that reopens the form so you can change your answer. It appears only where Google says that option is required.
- Everything local. Deleting a journal entry removes it. Uninstalling the app removes all of the data it kept on your phone.

The app has no switch that turns analytics and crash reporting off, and we would rather say so than imply a control that is not there.
Retention and deletion
Analytics and crash data are held by Google on our behalf, under the retention settings of Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, and they age out on Google's schedule. Because there is no account, we hold nothing that is tied to you by name. To ask about deletion of the data that Google holds for this app, or to have us make that request, email hello@binaryhands.com. Advertising data is governed by your Google account and advertising ID controls described above.
Third parties
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics), Google AdMob (ads), and Google Play Billing (purchases). All three are Google services, covered by Google's privacy policy.
- Google Play distributes the app.
About the app itself
Ghost Detector is a fictional instrument and is for entertainment purposes only. The Field dial is a real reading from your phone's magnetometer. The radar and the whispers are mostly random, and the app says so on its own How It Works screen.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL and the "Last updated" date will change.
